The Tiguan has five seats and is available with front-wheel drive as standard on the SEL R-Line or all-wheel drive as an optional $1,500 upgrade. An automatic transmission is compatible with a turbocharged engine.

2023 Volkswagen Tiguan Exterior
The Tiguan looks good in a segment where “average” looks are acceptable. It lacks the sportiness of the all-new Dodge Hornet as well as the stylistic flair of the Mazda CX-5. Nevertheless, the lower body sculpting and graceful horizontal lines are provided by the front fascia.
The profile of the Tiguan has sufficient character lines and sculpting without seeming overdone, along with a slightly rising beltline. There are stylish boomerang lights on the back. While the Black models replace the standard wheels and roof rails with black ones, the R-Line trim has chrome accents.
Automatic headlights, LED lighting, alloy wheels, heated and power-folding side mirrors, and roof rails are all included as standard equipment. There are options for bigger wheels and a power liftgate.
2023 Volkswagen Tiguan Interior
The category of compact utility vehicles has grown recently, and some of the models are now getting close to midsize proportions. When the Tiguan was first released in 2009, it had the smallest rear seat and the least amount of cargo space among cars in its class.
With the new Tiguan, however, Volkswagen has put more of an emphasis on space, providing more room for cargo and more comfortable second-row seating. For front-wheel-drive models, Volkswagen has added a third row of seats that is best suited for small children on quick trips.
Although the Tiguan has seven seats in theory, it is not advised if having more seats is your main concern. If you’re looking for a seven-seater vehicle with more space, the Volkswagen Atlas is a better option.
The Tiguan’s interior dazzles with a minimalist style that makes generous use of soft-touch materials. Standard upholstery on base models is cloth, while the top-end model is adorned with real leather, while the mid-level trims are covered in faux leather.
The seats prioritize comfort more and more as you move up the trim levels, adding power adjustments and features like heating and ventilation. Although the front seats are sufficiently padded, taller people may need more support for their thighs.
Passengers sitting on the sides will find greater comfort thanks to the second-row seat’s sculpted contouring.
Dual-zone climate control replaces standard air conditioning elsewhere. The higher trim levels come with a heated steering wheel and a panoramic sunroof.
Safety and Technology
Buyers of new cars expect a minimum standard of driver-assist safety equipment. Federal regulations mandate the inclusion of stability control, anti-lock brakes, and a rearview camera.
Volkswagen improves this by including an automated post-collision warning system that applies the brakes to stop additional damage after a collision. In addition, the integrated crash response system automatically unlocks the doors. Switches on the warning lights and off the fuel pump.
The company’s IQ is optional on the base model ($895) but required elsewhere. Convenience Package + DRIVE Package combined. The two packages include front emergency braking, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, lane assistance, and emergency assistance. It comes standard with blind-spot monitoring and rear traffic alert.
The Tiguan Have:
- A 6.5 inch touchscreen
- Smartphone integration
- Two charging ports
- Six speakers
And other technological features.
In addition to The standard model:
- 8-inch screen
- An extra charging port
- HD Radio
- A nine-speaker audio system
The latter is an uncommon collaboration between electronics behemoth Panasonic and guitar manufacturer Fender, which produces excellent sound quality.
A digital dashboard with a high-resolution screen and customization options is included with every Tiguan model. Given that it can display data in five different categories, this feature is highly regarded by us for this model.
You can access the safety assist system, audio settings, navigation, driving data, and vehicle status by using the controls on the steering wheel. This screen is a useful addition to the Tiguan because of its clear, practical design, and easy-to-use interface.
2023 Volkswagen Tiguan Performance
Volkswagen offers a single, powerful powertrain option for all Tiguan models. A 2 liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine paired with 8-speed automatic transmission powers every Tiguan.
With 184 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque, This combination guarantees a dependable performance. When properly equipped, Tiguan can tow up to 1,500 pounds. And achieve an average fuel economy of up to 27 miles per gallon.
Currently, VW does not match additional engine options offered by Ford’s competitors. Such as Ford Escape, or hybrid variants offered by Toyota RAV4. Volkswagen intend to offer an electrified option for Tiguan models in future. Though this won’t happen until at least 2025.
